Coalition Participates in Human Rights Forum in Cadenabbia, Italy

12 March 2026

The Coalition Against Transnational Repression in Germany took part in the Human Rights Forum in Cadenabbia (Italy), organised by the Konrad‑Adenauer‑Stiftung. The event brought together representatives from civil society, academia, and political institutions to discuss strategies for addressing transnational repression (TNR) and strengthening protections for those affected. The Coalition was represented by:

  • Reporter ohne Grenzen e.V. Tibet Initiative Deutschland e.V.World Uyghur Congress RAZAM e.V.
  • During the forum, Coalition members contributed perspectives on the growing risks faced by individuals targeted by foreign state actors while living in Germany. They highlighted concrete developments achieved through collective advocacy — including increased political awareness of TNR and the recent establishment of a coordination unit within the Federal Foreign Office. At the same time, the discussions made clear that significant gaps remain. While public awareness of transnational repression is increasing, practical safeguards for those affected still require substantial improvement. This is especially critical for exiled journalists and human rights defenders seeking safety and the ability to work freely in Germany. The Coalition welcomed the opportunity to participate in the forum and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing rights‑based, coordinated responses to transnational repression — in Germany and beyond.
